Canadian Biker magazine September 2105

cb315contThe September 2015 issue of Canadian Biker is now available on newsstands and has been mailed to our subscribers. On the cover are two of the faces of adventure-sport-touring (a growing category within a category in today’s fractured motorcycle market) as two premier German owned brands drop the leather riding gloves – the all new BMW S1000XR and the Ducati Multistrada 1200.

With the release of the S1000XR BMW has sent a definitive shot across the bow of AUDI owned Ducati stating that the this little niche just got more crowded. We ride both bikes – separately – to see which one has the goods. Ducati has had many years to make the Multistrada the excellent bike it is today. There is little doubt in its ability on road which is exactly where the XR fits into the picture. Can BMW enter the fray with a competitive machine right out of the gate? It helps that they have a mighty fine engine already providing plenty of rubber shredding power in other segments of the motorcycle spectrum. It is going to be interesting to see how this turns out. All Triumph has to do join this fight is bring back the Tiger 1050.

We will also tell you the story of how a very unique bike bike was stolen and then recovered …. there has to be a lesson in there somewhere. We also have a Street Glide custom with a Kawasaki Ninja fairing and an iPad for instrumentation – yes, it works. An offroad tour of northern Vancouver Island is our Touring feature this issue – it includes a visit to The Shoe Tree! There are a couple more custom bikes and a bike with a hole in it – okay a hole with an engine in it – rounding out this issue.

Enjoy.
