Motorcycles once owned by Steve McQueen seem to be as ubiquitous as motorcyclists that once owned a 1968 Triumph Bonneville. Bonham’s has just announced yet another Steve McQueen bike to go on auction. In this case the offering is a 750 cc 1934 Indian Scout Sport. Though he has been dead for over thirty- five years the legend that surrounds Steve McQueen and motorcycles has only continued to grow as several companies have used the actor’s likeness in marketing efforts. That and the scene in The Great Escape is one of the most iconic moments in the history of motorcycles and film. Bonham’s announcement quotes McQueen’s famous line “I’m not sure whether I’m an actor who races or a racer who acts.” That sentiment still rings true for a lot of fans so perhaps the estimated selling price of $100,000 will be going once, going twice, sold to the older gentleman in the back row! The auction will be held October 17 and 18 across the pond.
