In one of the more unusual approaches to charitable riding the 2015 Triumph sponsored Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride benefits prostate cancer research across the globe. With events planned in 400 cities around the world on September 27 the hope is to raise $3,000,000 US. The 2014 ride took place in 257 cities and raised $1.5 million with 20,000 participants dressing smartly. The theme is “dapper” as illustrated by the photo of Mad Men’s Don Draper on a Matchless G3L3 which is said to have inspired the event. According to the organizers “Think: Monocles, jaunty trimmed moustaches, silk vests, crisp shirts and tailored suits.” All types of rides are welcome including the bobber and “undefinable” as outlined on the site.
