Canadian Biker - August 2013- Softail Slim

The August 2013 issue of Canadian Biker is now on newsstands and has been mailed to our subscribers with the Harley-Davidson Softail Slim on the cover.

The Harley-Davidson Softail Slim. At Canadian Biker we have always enjoyed the Fat Boy but with the arrival of the Slim there may be a new favourite in the office. What is it about the bike that so catches our attention? Is it the lack of chrome and the matte paint job. Yes, I am afraid it might be. We were so tempted to call the story the Fat Boy Slim but we thought that would be just too easy. Besides isn’t there a band out there somewhere with that name.

The Canadian National M/X series may not have the name recognition of some of the other big M/X series around the world but that doesn’t mean that the passion, excitement and effort isn’t just as strong. We visit the opening round of the series in Nanaimo, BC.

Ever dream of the endless summer of riding? Well it is possible – as long as you have the money to fly yourself around the world and a bike in a different hemisphere. One Canadian tries it for one year as he heads to Australia to ride away the chill of a Canadian winter.

Erik Buell. Where is that fellow? It turns out that if you have a tech problem with your Ulysses and e-mail EBR looking for a solution, you might just get an e-mail back from the man himself. That is what happened to one of our readers.

What else? Fancy custom tire caps that might just lead to disaster. A museum exhibit dedicated to motorcycles in movies. Charlie Boorman going special ops on his motorcycle (huh?). A story about the change of life … no not that one, the one where you decide to move from a cruiser to an adventure bike. All that and a bright yellow Norton.
